breasts on bunnies?

Scientists have devloped a way to grow breast tissue on lab animals. Aside from the problems I may have with scientists growing “breast-shaped blob of fat tissue in the groin area” of a rabbit, I tend to think that spending time figuring out how women can grow larger breasts isn’t the best use of grant money.

Don’t get me wrong, for women who have undergone a masectomy, this could be wonderful. (Although why not spend all this energy on curing the cancer that causes the masecotmy?) And, I agree that a safer and more natural solution for women who want to increase their bust size is a good thing. But somehow this project just seems like it is promoting the idea that women should increase their bust size.

Call me crazy (or idealistic), but I think the grant money would have been better spent on finding a way to stop women from feeling so inadequate that they think their breasts aren’t large enough or good enough. Or curing cancer, AIDs, diabetes, or any of the other countless diseases out there.

Okay, I hear you. You’re saying that maybe this is a step in developing a way to grow other tissue and organs that can be used for transplant. Now that would be amazing. But they had to start with breasts?

I can see it now… a bunch of geeky scientists sitting around the lab drinking Zima thinking about how great it would be if they could figure out a way to grow breasts. Maybe they even talked about how cool it would be if women could grow extra breasts. Brilliant! They only thing that would have surprised me less is if they wanted to figure out how to grow bigger penises.

Here’s my suggestion – how about working on how to stimulate the growth of normal cells that can take over and destroy cancerous cells.

I guess that just doesn’t sound as glamorous.

Dining Room: Removing the wallpaper and glu

This was the easiest part. The paper was good quality, and although the original papering job wasn’t perfect, the glue was applied properly. The paper came right down in big sheets with minimal effort. The room is now a mottled golden glue yellow and it smells like, well, wall paper glue.

Next step: remove all the glue.

glue on the wall

Well, this isn’t tough, but it is tedious and time-consuming. I am using a hot water and vinegar mixture applied with a sponge. Then I use the scraper and the sponge to get the glue off. I work for about 2-2.5 hours each session and I finish about a 6 foot high by 9 ft area during that time.

Removing the glue is revealing some cracks that will have to be patched. Another skill to learn!
