Looking for a “beef-based snack”?

Apparently, the beef industry felt left out of the appetizer and snack arenas. Enter cheeseburger fries. Deep fried beef and cheese. Also coming to school cafeterias near you.

“Like most bar snacks, cheeseburger fries pack quite a dietary wallop. Each individual fry has about 75 calories and four grams of fat. The fries for schools have less beef per serving but still have about 60 calories and, in fact, more fat a total of 6 grams in each fry. And nobody eats just one.”

Wait, someone tell me again - why is it that Americans are so fat? (That’s sarcasm, kids.) And what ever happened to fruit as a snack?

RC: There is a line in the film when you say there is no moment more frightening than when your first child is born.

Steve Albini, an independent and corporate rock record producer (who produced Nirvana’s “In Utero”), writes a very interesting piece about how musicians are treated by record companies, including a breakdown of royalty payments and profits.

9-11 kids

A news report this morning talked about the “9-11 kids.” Maybe these kids want to get on with life, heal in their own way and own time. But the media has labeled them a “9-11 kids.” Isn’t it horrible enough to lose a loved one in such a tragedy? Now these kids are also media pawns.
