Moving? Don't Use Bekins!
My experience with Bekins included:
- Damage to my apartment
- Being overcharged
- About 1/4 of my belongings are missing (about $4000 worth, plus irreplaceable items.)
- Damage to my sofa
- Individuals handling my claim will not return calls
- Refusal to pay for sofa damage
- Refusal to pay replacement costs as specified in my insurance
This is just an overview of the appalling and stressful experience that I had with Bekins. You can read the
OngoingBekinsSaga. Bekins touts it's long history of high quality service and good reputation. But I have seen how they handle claims, how the treat customers who have paid them large sums of money, and the incompetent people that they hire.
Did you have a bad experience with movers?
But don't avoid Bekins just because of my experience. Here is a partial list of other people who have had horrendous experiences with Bekins. And there are many, many more

- "There was virtually no wooden furniture delivered without some sort of visible damage. Boxes were smashed. Clothing wardrobes totally crushed and open, to such an extent, the contents had to be sent for pressing. Items missing. Even my artificial tree had the trunk gouged! And, of course, everything was absolutely filthy. " (full story)
- "Sofas were dragged and soiled. Tables were damaged. Took about 8 months to get a claim form, which has been ignored to date." (full story)
- "I am now filing a grievance with the Attourney General of the State of Connexticut. Be warned, this is possibly the worst moving company in America..." (full story)
